Running by the numbers.

First mile and my apprehension is so high. Mile 10 of my first ultra-marathon is when I start to get my groove. The physical and emotional roller-coaster starts at the 31st mile. The hills, rocks and roots take a pounding on my legs. I hit rock-bottom and I start the walk in my own personal hell by the time I reach the 63rd mile. I get out of the darkness and into the light as I start running…
